California IN BRIEF : PACIFICA : 3 Still Missing After Van Crash
A teen-ager thrown from a van as it plunged 500 feet into the surf remained in intensive care on Monday, still unable to provide authorities with much detail as they searched for three people still missing. Six people were believed to be in the van early Saturday when it slipped off rain-slick U.S. 1 at Devil’s Slide. Two bodies have been recovered. Though suffering from shock and trauma, he managed to tell rescuers before he was taken to the hospital that five others were in the van. But he has not been able to talk to investigators since, California Highway Patrol spokesman Don Gappa said.
