NHL ROUNDUP : New-Look Flyers Still Looking Good at Home

From Associated Press

You have to look twice at the Philadelphia Flyers these days. Not only are they nearly unbeatable at home, they’re doing it with unfamiliar faces.

It’s not Rick Tocchet or Ron Hextall who has keyed the Flyers’ 8-1-5 record in their last 14 home games, including Thursday night’s 5-1 victory over the Boston Bruins at Philadelphia.

Al Conroy, Claude Boivin, Wes Walz and other call-ups from the minor league Hershey Bears have shaken this team from its early-season funk.

Walz, acquired from the Bruins in a trade Jan. 2, scored his first goal as a Flyer. Conroy scored his first in the NHL.

St. Louis 4, New Jersey 1--Brett Hull scored two goals and Curtis Joseph made 41 saves as the Blues won at St. Louis. Hull had been held scoreless in his last two games.

New York Islanders 5, Vancouver 4--Ray Ferrero scored two goals, including one 2:48 into overtime, to lead the Islanders at Vancouver.
