Attorney Roger Schnapp has been appointed to Chapman University’s board of trustees, university officials announced this week.

Schnapp, a specialist in labor relations in private practice in Newport Beach, will continue in his post as president of Chapman 100, one of the university’s fund-raising support groups. A member of the U.S. Secretary of Labor’s Business Research Advisory Council, Schnapp also is active in the conservative Lincoln Club and support groups for the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

“Chapman University is indeed fortunate to have such a noted business and community leader join our board of trustees,” university President James L. Doti said.

Schnapp is a 1966 graduate of Cornell University. He earned a law degree from Harvard in 1969 and has served as legal counsel for firms such as American Airlines and TWA.

Schnapp joins 30 other Chapman trustees, who include some of Orange County’s most prominent business leaders, such as Rams owner Georgia Frontiere, Marion Knott, Santa Ana aerospace parts firm owner Doy Henley and developer George Argyros, the current board chairman.

Chapman University is a private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The campus in Orange has about 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students, plus another 6,000 taking courses at the university’s network of academic centers in the western United States and in Pacific Rim countries.
