Yes, he had no bomb--but he had some bananas and he used them to grab a bunch of money and give authorities the slip.

Burbank police evacuated a Security Pacific Bank branch at 142 E. Olive St. following a bank robbery at 9:45 a.m Friday, Officer Frank Rothe said.

The tall, blond, well-dressed robber walked into the bank alone and gave the teller, Martin Boyadzhyan, 20, a note, saying: “I have a bomb in the bag. Give me your money.”

The robber then placed a metallic-silver paper bag on the counter, but the teller “couldn’t tell what was in it,” Rothe said.

The robber escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The police bomb squad evacuated the bank, then carefully pulled the bag out of the building with a rope, Rothe said.

The contents? Three bananas tied together with electrical tape to resemble sticks of dynamite, police said.

“This is unique,” Rothe said. “I’ve never heard of bank robbers using bananas before.”
