Landfill Sites
Why is it deja vu all over again? Looking at more landfill sites is prudent--if it’s done for the right reasons. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the county is looking at these sites except as a ploy to avoid making a decision on Aspen Road and Gregory Canyon.
It seems that some of the North County cities are fed up with the machinations of the county and are willing to give it a try on their own. I don’t blame them. It is one thing to ask for and listen to citizen input. It is quite another to let it bog down the whole system. To the county, “Know when to say when.”
Pick one of the two sites already selected, let it move along the process while the haggling goes on over the other sites. If this doesn’t happen, the county is likely to find itself mired in its own compost heap.
