Girl, 15, Dies When Stolen Car Overturns
A 15-year-old Clairemont High School girl died when the car she was riding in overturned Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Kristie Pena, of the 3100 block of Haidas Avenue, died from massive head and chest injuries from the accident at Regents Road and Park West Lane, just a few miles from her home, a county medical examiner said.
One other passenger received minor injuries, and three others fled from the scene.
Those who fled were later taken into custody by police after officials discovered that the 1986 Volkswagen Golf had been reported stolen.
