Discount Coupons for Travel in Texas

Beginning March 21, travelers driving through Texas can obtain a free “Texas Passport” coupon booklet at Texas highway tourist bureaus in Anthony, Amarillo, Austin, Gainesville, Harlingen, Langry, Laredo, Orange, Texarkana, Waskom and Wichita Falls.

The booklets are also available at the convention and visitor bureaus in major Texas cities. Each booklet contains coupons good for discounts on accommodations throughout the state, plus sightseeing attractions, entertainment events, restaurants and stores.

Discounts come in the form of a percentage taken off the regular price, a dollar amount, 2-for-1 deals and complimentary products.

Texas-bound travelers might also want to consider the discount books available through Entertainment Publications for the cities of Houston, San Antonio, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Austin. Each book offers sections containing 2-for-1 discounts at restaurants, 50% off regular rates at hotels, plus a variety of discounts from sightseeing attractions and sports/entertainment activities.

A new feature in the 1992 editions, which cost from $25 to $30, is a Mexico section with bilingual coupons for restaurants, hotels and sightseeing attractions acrossthe border.

Alamo Rent A Car is extending its offer of “VacationSavers” discount booklets to renters in Hawaii and California. The new batch of Hawaii coupons are good through April 30, 1993, with the California coupons valid through Dec. 30, 1992.

The Hawaii discount booklet is available at seven Alamo stations on the four major islands--Oahu, Maui, the Big Island of Hawaii and Kauai. The 36 coupons offer discounts on hotels, restaurants, sightseeing attractions and special events.

The California booklets, available at 13 Alamo stations around the state, cover attractions and activities, as well as restaurants, in the San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles areas.

In both states, the discount booklets are provided with a minimum Alamo car rental of one day. Most of the coupons can be used for four to six people, which makes them convenient for families. The coupons must be used during the car rental period, and users may be asked to show their Alamo car keys.
