Shakespeare Orange County, the newly formed professional troupe at Chapman University in Orange, raised $5,865 with its “Will Power Walk” on Saturday, according to artistic director Thomas F. Bradac. The nonprofit classical company received $3,800 in cash and the rest in pledges.

Bruce Bales, 36, has been appointed director of the Orange Coast College Chorale, succeeding Ted Reid, who left the position because of personal commitments. Bales, a native of Fullerton, got his bachelor’s degree from Chapman University in Orange and his master’s from UC Irvine, where he has taught choral and vocal music education since 1983. He is working on his doctorate in music at USC. Bales, a baritone, will lead his first program with the chorale on March 21 at the First Christian Church, 1207 Main St., Huntington Beach.
