Math Prize Awarded

JERUSALEM —
Professors Lennart Carleson of Sweden and John G. Thompson of Cambridge, England, were named Monday to receive the 1992 Wolf Prize in mathematics.
Carleson, 63, a native of Stockholm, has taught since 1986 at UCLA. Thompson, 59, is a native of Ottawa, Kan., who teaches at Cambridge University. The professors will share a $100,000 prize, to be presented by Israeli President Chaim Herzog on May 17 in Jerusalem.
