A Liz Update

Share

In a party announcement as veiled as one of her many bridal headpieces, Elizabeth Taylor’s 60th birthday plans on Feb. 27 at Disneyland have been officially released by her New York public relations firm, Chen Sam & Associates.

Chem Sam whispers of the after-hours party’s location: Fantasyland (we told you that two weeks ago). And there is talk of an official cake-cutting ceremony in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, followed by a fireworks display. And there are a few decor details, including the fact that party tables will be dressed in deep-purple cloths, candles, flowers and gold-rimmed china and crystal.

There are even some new names on the party’s honorary committee list: entrepreneur Marje Everett, agent-producer Sandy Gallin and interior designer Waldo Fernandez. (Of course, you already know Larry Fortensky, Carole Bayer Sager, Jose Eber, Michael Jackson, Barry Diller and David Geffen plan to be there.)

But, party lovers ache for details. What’s the entertainment ? The dress code ? The dinner fare ? (a Chen Sam clue: “an array of cuisines from around the world.”)

As for who’s picking up the party tab, Disneyland--the rumored benefactor--is mum. “I can’t talk about that,” says Disneyland President Jack Lindquist.

Guess your chances of learning more before the bash for 1,000 of Liz’s nearest-and-dearest are about as good as you directing a movie for the soon-to-be sexagenarian.

“Elizabeth wants to surprise her friends,” says a spokeswoman for Chen Sam. “If it’s all in the paper before the party, there won’t be any surprises left.”

She declined to add other names to the guest list (but if you remember the wedding last October at Michael Jackson’s sprawling digs, you remember that fashion designer Valentino was there, and so were Taylor’s mother, Sarah, Nancy Reagan, Doris Brynner--former wife of late actor Yul Brynner--and Taylor’s children).

Another sure thing: Taylor and pals will be joined by such Disney characters as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee--you know the names.

Small world.
