‘Wedding’ Update: The long-awaited symbolic “marriage” Friday of New York’s Statue of Liberty and Barcelona’s Christopher Columbus monument has changed venues. The wedding festivities, which climax six years of international processions, art shows and other events, have been moved from Caesars Palace in Las Vegas about 17 miles west to the Sandstone Quarry at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. All other Honeymoon Miralda Project events scheduled for the Valentine’s Day weekend will go on as planned. Caesars Palace withdrew from the project because of “logistical considerations,” a spokesman said.
