Four young men were ordered to stand trial in the fatal drive-by shooting of a man at his daughter’s birthday party in South Bay mobile home park.

Deputy Dist. Atty. David Greenberg said Anthony Trevino, 18, of Imperial Beach, was the gunman who shot Alfredo Rodriguez, 41, on Dec. 2.

Greenberg said that co-defendant Robert Connelly, 20, of Imperial Beach, was the driver, and co-defendant Carlos Gutierrez, 19, of Chula Vista, furnished the weapon.

Also charged on Tuesday with conspiracy and murder is Joseph Kinsey, 18, of Imperial Beach.

Judge Richard Hanscom said testimony from the all-day preliminary hearing indicated that the group wanted to retaliate for a traffic altercation and “take the law into their own hands.”

Hanscom said the group spotted a car at the Greenfield Mobile Home Park in Nestor that they perceived had committed a traffic violation against them earlier.

A shot was fired and hit Rodriguez, as he was escorting a friend to his car after a party for his 7-year-old daughter.

Trevino is being held in County Jail in lieu of $500,000, but bail at $75,000 has been set for the remaining three defendants.

They were told to return to Superior Court on Feb. 25 for setting of a trial date.
