Attorney Will Run for Dornan’s Seat
Attorney Ricardo A. Nicol III announced his candidacy Wednesday for the Democratic nomination for the congressional seat held by Rep. Robert K. Dornan (R-Garden Grove).
Nicol, 37, said he thinks that Dornan is vulnerable this year because of the economy and newly reapportioned districts.
“Too many people are out of work. Too many people are not being educated. Too many people are homeless,” Nicol said. “For too many, the prospect of a better future has given way to a grinding struggle just to stay even.”
Nicol said he wants to give government “back to those who live, work and raise families in the congressional district.”
He added: “I want them to take their governments back from those who are using it to rob them of their future happiness.”
This is the first political race that Nicol has entered, and he said he would have to raise about $500,000 to wage a competitive battle against Dornan.
