UNLV Not Distracted in 83-39 Rout
On a day when it was reported that federal authorities were investigating whether Nevada Las Vegas players shaved points last season, No. 15 UNLV defeated San Jose State, 83-39, Thursday night in a Big West Conference game at Las Vegas.
UNLV (21-2, 13-0) led 50-13 at halftime in winning its 18th consecutive game, the nation’s longest winning streak. San Jose State (2-17, 1-10) made only 15 of 74 shots.
Early in the second half, a fan ran onto the court carrying a five-foot professionally designed sign that read, ‘Fire Maxson,’ in reference to UNLV President Robert Maxson. He was tackled near the free-throw line and all but carried off the court.
