An installation service for the Rev. James E. Piper will be held Sunday at the Church of the Foothills in Santa Ana. Piper has been invited to lead the congregation after serving as interim pastor for 18 months.
Church of the Foothills represents a merger of two denominations, the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ. The message of installation will be given by the Rev. Barbara Cunningham, associate minister of the United Church of Christ Southwest Conference. The Rev. John Wofersberger, regional minister of the Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), will lead the ceremony.
Piper has served churches in Oregon, Illinois, California and Arizona. He most recently spent four years helping develop a church in Sedona, Ariz., under sponsorship of the state and national Disciples of Christ Christian Church.
