From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A court in Boston found that a man imprisoned as a juvenile for killing a 5-year-old boy no longer is a menace to society and will be released next month, on his 23rd birthday. The decision ended a nine-year battle over Matthew Rosenberg, believed to be the longest-held juvenile in Massachusetts’ history. He was incarcerated at age 14, after he confessed to molesting and drowning the boy, Kenny Claudio. Under public pressure to keep Rosenberg in custody, state officials had argued he was a dangerous pedophile.
