LOST HORIZONS

Regarding again the supposed Mayan frieze you used to illustrate “Unearthing Atlantis,” I think Prof. Demorest Davenport (Letters, Jan.19) is on the right track with his suspicion that it’s not Mayan at all.

My own hunch goes further: I don’t believe it’s even pre-Columbian. I’d be willing to bet a couple more beers (Dos Equis, please) that it’s a piece of modern illustration art done as a pastiche of the ancient style. Please deliver my brews to:
