* Bob Wells, former project manager for Costain Homes, has been named vice president of operations.

Wells, 47, will be responsible for Costain’s planning, land acquisition, sales, construction and customer service department activity in Southern California. Before joining Costain in 1989 as project manager and director of forward planning, Wells had been director of forward planning at Summerhill Development Co. in Newport Beach. He also had been project manager at Irvine-Pacific Co., the former home-building arm of the Irvine Co.

Costain Homes is a division of Costain Group PLC in London, one of Britain’s largest builders with $3 billion in annual revenue from international real estate development, investment and mining operations.

The Newport Beach-based company was formed in 1987 and builds single-family detached homes in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
