Bicycle Story Takes Twists and Turns

Regarding the editorial “State Should Look at Transit Priorities” (Feb. 9), I would like to say that I wholly agree. Here in trendy Orange County, where the current trend is environmentalism, how can we be so hypocritical as to spend countless hours figuring out how we can protect our environment, by recycling or not driving or something like that, and then turn around and allow the expansion of our roads to the point where if you stand on one side of the road, you can’t see where the other side ends.

I exaggerate, but as a bicycle rider, the prospect of a reduced-width lane for bicycles is not something I would look forward to. Being on a bike as cars hurtle by at 60 miles an hour four feet away is not that fun of an experience. Making a three-foot bike lane next to a major road is absurd.
