Dances Past

I’ve been on 49 cruises and, years ago, we used to run from one lounge to another to dance to good old dance music. There was dancing in the afternoon, before and after the shows and late into the night. Now there is only dancing late at night and most of it is rock--once in a while the band plays something danceable.
On one ship I was complaining to one of the assistant cruise directors about the music. He admitted the music was not danceable, but said one could dance at the captain’s party. The captain’s party usually lasts 45 minutes. It takes at least 30 minutes for all the passengers to shake the captain’s hand, then he introduces his staff. By that time you are lucky to get in a few dances.
