Danny Goldberg, the agent for singer Bonnie Raitt and other performers, has been named senior vice president of Atlantic Records. Goldberg’s appointment was announced by Doug Morris, co-chairman and co-chief executive of Atlantic, a Time Warner company.

Goldberg most recently headed Gold Mountain Entertainment, a talent management agency that he formed in 1984 and whose clients include Raitt, the group Nirvana and Rickie Lee Jones. Goldberg will continue to serve as a part-time consultant to Gold Mountain. He also is chair of the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Southern California.

Goldberg earlier worked for the trade publications Billboard and Record World, and later for Rolling Stone, the Village Voice and Circus.
