KNBC Drops Anchor: In another cost-cutting move, KNBC Channel 4 will not renew the contract of Bill Lagattuta, weekend anchorman and a well-respected reporter who has been with the station since 1985. Lagattuta is reportedly negotiating for a network reporting slot with NBC News. He will be replaced at KNBC in April by Rick Chambers, a weekend anchor at WSVN in Miami, a move that reportedly will save the station at least $100,000 a year in salary. The change is the second major on-air cutback at KNBC since Reed Manville took over as general manager late last year. Last month, the station axed longtime reporter John Marshall. Marshall is said to be mulling over offers from KTLA Channel 5 and KCOP Channel 13. KNBC declined comment.
