Share

A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Northern California on April 29 for a former Santa Monica teacher charged with robbery and murder in the 1989 disappearance of a retired Glendale accountant whose body has never been found.

The former teacher, Stanley Alan Hershey, 48, pleaded not guilty last month to charges in Shasta County that he killed Gordon T. Johnson, 62, who vanished while traveling in his motor home from Oregon to California.

Hershey and his wife, Jan Fine Hershey, 39, were convicted in 1990 on federal charges of stealing Johnson’s motor home and life savings. A federal judge in Las Vegas sentenced Stanley Hershey to 20 years in prison and Jan Hershey to five years.
