MEN’S TENNIS

Fredrik Axsater at No. 1 singles helped the University of San Diego to a 7-2 victory over Air Force (8-2). Axsater defeated Dan Oosterhouse, 6-3, 6-4. Kevin Bradley, Ignacio Martinez, Phil Hofmann and Robbie Seward also won for the Toreros (5-1).

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Paige Hammond and Tanya Lauer defeated Linda Allred and Jennifer Nguyen, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles to win the deciding match in San Diego State’s 5-4 victory at USC. The teams split the singles round, 3-3, in a match that lasted six hours. The Aztecs are 3-0, USC 4-3.

The University of San Diego routed Loyola Marymount, 9-0, on the West Courts with only one match going three sets. Julie McKeon defeated Vicky Cordova, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Kara Brady and Tracy Ishii, the Toreras’ No. 1 doubles team, also won, 6-0, 6-0, as USD improved to 3-1. Loyola is 0-5.
