Malibu Lifts Ban for Some Building Projects
Malibu’s City Council has approved an ordinance that would exempt at least 15 residential building projects from a citywide construction ban.
The vote on Tuesday was 3 to 2, with council members Walt Keller and Carolyn Van Horn dissenting.
The action was requested by property owners whose construction plans narrowly failed to meet the minimum standards that would have allowed them to be exempted from the building moratorium imposed last March. The new law gives the city’s planning director the authority to determine which projects qualify.
