Ex-Thrift Chairman Goes to Jail: Ousted CenTrust Chairman David Paul surrendered to serve an 18-month sentence for refusing to produce documents sought by a federal grand jury in Miami investigating his thrift’s failure. The head of Florida’s onetime largest thrift appealed his contempt sentence last week, but the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has not scheduled a hearing on it. Regulators seized CenTrust two years ago at a loss of $1.7 billion.
