United Technologies Corp. announced the appointment of George David as president and chief operating officer.

David, 49, previously served as a senior vice president in charge of the Hartford, Conn.-based conglomerate’s commercial and industrial businesses.

David assumes the titles from the UTC Chairman and Chief Executive Robert F. Daniell, who has held all four titles since the retirement of Chairman Harry J. Gray.
