Tenors Back in Tune: Peace has come to the opera-star war in Spain now that tenor Alfredo Kraus has accepted a belated invitation to join Jose Carreras and others at a lip-synced opening concert for the Summer Olympics in Barcelona. The spat was sparked by Carreras’ original decision to exclude his fellow Spaniard from the July 25 event. Carreras, musical director for the Games, originally did not invite Kraus because he said the latter was known to dislike mass operatic events. That was a response to Kraus’ criticism of the all-tenor performance by Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti last year in Italy. Carreras said last week that he longed to end the issue.
