San Diego : 4-Year Prison Term for Drunken Driver
A drunken wrong-way driver who killed a 25-year-old restaurant hostess on Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego was sentenced Friday to four years in state prison.
William H. Ottilige, 50, pleaded guilty one month ago to gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence and causing injury.
Although Ottilige faced a maximum sentence of 10 years, Superior Court Judge John M. Thompson issued only a four-year sentence.
Angelina Ballestreri, a San Diego resident who worked at Filippi’s Pizza Grotto on India Street, was killed in the early morning hours of July 5, 1991, as she prepared to exit northbound I-5 at Hawthorn Street.
Ottilige was driving a Ford Bronco, which smashed into Ballestreri’s compact car less than a mile from the victim’s home.
