AND ONE MORE THING: Pop Eye sends congratulations and/or condolences to Capitol Records for signing perennial critics’ favorite Graham Parker, the man who never met a record company about which he didn’t have something nasty to say. What label executive could not be charmed by “Mercury Poisoning,” the song with which he bid adieu to Mercury Records in 1979, or touched by the biting remarks he made during concerts about RCA, his most recent U.S. label? Adding stints at Arista and Elektra (the latter for just one album) to the list, Capitol is Parker’s fifth home in his 16-year recording career.
