The Boston Bruins have had a series of outstanding defenseman, including Bobby Orr and Brad Parks.

Although he doesn’t claim to be in the same class with Orr, Ray Bourque is the first Bruin defenseman to get 1,000 points.

Bourque, 31 and in his 13th NHL season, assisted on a late goal by Bobby Carpenter Saturday at Boston to help the Bruins overcome a three-goal deficit and tie Washington, 5-5.
