In Memory of Ritt: A new fund will be established at the American Film Institute in honor of the late director Martin Ritt today, on what would have been his 78th birthday. Ritt’s wife, Adele, and family and friends have given more than $100,000 to the fund, which will provide an annual $10,000 grant to an AFI film project consistent with Ritt’s ideals. Ritt’s films include “The Great White Hope” and “Norma Rae.”
