Vehicle Exports Grow: Japanese vehicle exports rose 6.7% in January, the biggest gain in 13 months, a group of the nation’s car makers said last week. The surge came mainly on demand from the Middle East and Latin America, while exports to the United States fell. Exports totaled 545,693 units last month, the report by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Assn. said. Sales to the United States dropped in part because of the depressed U.S. economy. Japanese exports of cars and parts account for about 75% of the nation’s trade surplus with the United States.
