ANAHEIM : Housing Project Is Subject of Hearing
The proposed Coal Canyon housing development and its environmental impact report are scheduled to be the subject of a public hearing before the City Council at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The 663-acre, 1,550-home development is being proposed by the Hon Development Co. of Laguna Hills and is opposed by a variety of environmental groups who say it would destroy one of Orange County’s last pristine canyons. One group asked the federal government last month to declare the canyon a mountain lion preserve.
In addition to the homes, the development would include an eight-acre commercial area, one elementary school and various city buildings, such as a fire station.
City Hall is at 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
