GLENDALE : School District May Cut 97 Jobs

Share

The superintendent of the Glendale Unified School District has proposed eliminating the equivalent of 97 jobs, including 43 teaching positions, to help offset a projected $6.7-million deficit for 1992-93.

Supt. Robert A. Sanchis also recommended eliminating two administrative positions, each paying more than $90,000 annually, when they become vacant through retirement in the near future.

The personnel cuts are part of sweeping reductions to the district’s $112-million budget that Sanchis proposed to the Board of Education Tuesday. A district spokesman said the plan would “probably not” require any teacher layoffs because the positions would become available through attrition.
