Atlanta second baseman Jeff Treadway will be out about three months after undergoing surgery to repair a joint in his right hand. Officials said Treadway is expected to recover fully but must wear a cast for six to eight weeks before rehabilitation. . . . Pittsburgh left fielder Barry Bonds slightly strained his left hamstring while being picked off first base during the Pirates’ 5-3 exhibition victory over the Texas Rangers. The injury is not considered serious. . . . Minnesota Twin third baseman Mike Pagliarulo was hit in the ear by David West’s pitch during an intrasquad game. The team’s medical staff said there is 50-50 chance the injury could heal on its own. His status will be re-evaluated Monday.
