Studio Poverty Cries Break Reader’s Heart

Share

I’m confused. Was the purpose of the article “Optician to the Stars Has Eye for a Trend” (Jan. 7) for the reader to feel sorry for Cheryl Shuman, with her Mercedes 500 SL convertible and her 6,000-square-foot hilltop mansion in Sherman Oaks? Or was it to make us feel sorry for the poor movie studios, whose tales of financial woe have been chronicled in issues past?

I think the real losers here are the moviegoers who pay $6.50 or more per ticket so that the studios can pay Cheryl Shuman $2,000 per day, for 10 days, to “fit” Robert Downey Jr.’s glasses.

If Downey and the rest of those Hollywood nut cakes can’t even put on their own glasses, then perhaps they should be replaced by those who have learned this simple art. And if Downey or any of the others need help in tying their shoes, I’m available, at a price to be negotiated.

The next time I see an article about a movie studio or production company biting the dust, I’m going to say three Cheryl Shumans and turn the page!
