CITIZEN SID: Costa Mesa gadfly Sid Soffer is plenty irritated at City Hall, and he has said so at nearly every City Council meeting since 1978. (E1) But he has no desire to become a public official himself. “Politicians think they have a special power,” says Soffer, who is also appealing a 30-day jail sentence for violating city building codes. “As soon as they win an election, God blesses them and gives them a wisdom they never had before. I don’t want God making me any smarter than I already am.”
