Viacheslav Kozlov, a former Soviet hockey star, has cleared a couple of hurdles in his efforts to make his debut with the Detroit Red Wings.
The 19-year-old Kozlov was granted a visa permitting him to play in the United States. He also received a form that allows him to work in Canada.
Kozlov, who has signed a three-year, $750,000 contract, was Detroit’s second pick in the third round of the 1990 entry draft.
