Five screenwriters will be honored at the Writers Workshop’s 3rd annual Ethnic Minority Screenwriters Development and Promotional Program tonight at 7:30 in the Center Green Theater Complex of the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood.
Honorees will be Shari Bailey for “Dannie ‘n’ Laurence,” James Lujan for “Nation,” Leroy Meadows for “Tyler’s Theory,” Darrin Oura for “Down Five” and Megan Timothy for “The Flight of the Falcons.”
Since the program and awards began in January 1990, eight writers have received contracts from major studios and production companies. Among award presenters will be Cheech Marin, producers Moctesuma Esparza, George Jackson and Doug McHenry, and Teddy Zee, executive vice president, Columbia Pictures.
The program is funded by the Los Angeles City Cultural Affairs Department and Walt Disney Studios.
