An American Car for the Bye of a Lifetime

TOKYO — Skip Williams and Bill Stevenson want the Japanese to take a ride in an American-made vehicle--their last ride, anyway.
Williams is president of Eureka Corp., a 110-year-old Ohio company that reshapes Cadillac limousines into hearses.
Stevenson founded Stevenson International Mortuary in Tokyo to handle foreigners’ funerals. Now, he says, many Japanese customers are asking for the funerals, including hearses.
In a year, Williams and Stevenson have sold 18 hearses. Those to whom they appealed included Japanese mobsters, who have always liked American cars.
