Twice as many men participate in college sports as women, and men’s programs receive nearly five times the recruiting dollars, according to an NCAA gender equity survey.
The disparity between money spent on men’s and women’s sports in 1991 was due largely to football programs and the lack of a comparable sport for women, NCAA Executive Director Richard Schultz said.
