Closed Park

On my visits to Los Angeles I look forward to new and interesting experiences; this time they included “Helter Skelter” at the Temporary Contemporary museum and “Kullervo” at the opera.
My most surprising experience, however, was a visit to Greystone Park in Beverly Hills. The day was rainy with occasional dry periods. During a dry period a walk to the top of the hill to see the dramatic views of clouds over the towers of Century City seemed appropriate. As my companion and I walked up the drive, we were stopped by a park ranger. She told us that the park was open daily all year, but that it was closed that day because of rain. Then she escorted us out of the park.
In my travels to cities in various parts of the world, I have never been to a park that was closed on account of rain. I hope this idea does not spread. Think how rare it would be to visit parks in a city such as London.
