Speaking Out: “A Current Affair” host Maureen O’Boyle goes public in the March 23 issue of People magazine with her story of being raped six years ago. O’Boyle, 28, says she felt that because she is in the public eye, “my story is important to share. This person and this crime did not take away my life, my stability, my career. . . . I can go on.” The rape occurred in Macon, Ga., where she was working as a television news anchorwoman. An auto mechanic who had worked on her car and watched her on TV every morning broke into her apartment and raped and terrorized her for three hours, she said. He was arrested on an unrelated burglary charge about a month later.
