GETTING CLOSE: Ever frustrated your plane didn’t run on schedule? No airline is perfect, but John Wayne Airport officials are pleased with airlines on-time rates there. Tiny Alaska Airlines, with under 3,000 John Wayne departures and arrivals in 1991, had the best rate, at 91.9%. American, which had the most trips--more than 13,000--was a close second. United was the worst, at 76.9%, well below the airport’s 87.7% average.
