Boys Held in Drugging of Teacher's Creamer

Associated Press

Two middle school students have been arrested for allegedly spiking a teacher's coffee creamer with a prescription drug that causes excessive urination.

The boys, ages 13 and 14, dumped about 80 milligrams of furosemide, a drug often used to treat heart patients, in the creamer last week while the 39-year-old teacher was out of her classroom, authorities said.

The youths, whose names were withheld because of their ages, were arrested Monday and charged with poisoning food.

The teacher suffered no lasting effects, authorities said.
