Santa Fe Springs : Mandatory Water Saving Ends--It’s Voluntary Now

Share

The Santa Fe Springs City Council has voted to immediately end its mandatory water conservation program, which imposed penalties if customers did not reduce their water consumption by 10%.

The city is still asking its customers to voluntarily cut water use by 10%, said John Price, director of public works.

The City Council took action because the Metropolitan Water District relaxed its mandatory conservation program last week. Santa Fe Springs Water Department buys about half of its water from the MWD.

The city’s Water Department services about 5,000 water customers, mostly industrial. About 4% of the city is supplied by private water suppliers, Price said.
