Maybe all scholarship hopefuls should take the recruiting process as seriously as Shelley Taylor did.
A distance-running standout at Edison, Taylor said this week that she’s made an oral commitment to attend Arkansas.
Taylor, who has run 4 minutes 52.68 seconds for the 1,600 meters, made her decision only after she had made recruiting trips to each of her five final choices.
“It’s so beautiful there,” Taylor said when asked why she picked Arkansas over Colorado, Kansas State, Oregon and Providence. “The whole town is really nice. I just loved it.
“My first choice was Oregon. I liked it OK, but I didn’t love it. Everybody told me I’d have a certain feeling when I found the right school. I definitely had it at Arkansas.”
