Just in time to get fans into the spirit of the new baseball season, the Ojai Film Society will present the 1991 movie “Pastime” on Sunday at the Ojai Playhouse.

“Pastime” centers on a minor league team in California in 1957. In particular, it focuses on two of the team’s pitchers--a 41-year-old white man who has dedicated his life to baseball, though he has spent just one day in the big leagues, and a 17-year-old black youth with a load of potential.

The two characters befriend one another and the veteran helps the rookie succeed before the veteran finally gives up on his career in baseball.

Show time is 4:30 p.m. The playhouse is located at 145 E. Ojai Ave. Admission is $6.

A movie starring Mae West, Marilyn Monroe, Claudette Colbert, Jean Harlow, Rita Hayworth, Dorothy Lamour and other Hollywood sex symbols could only be called “Love Goddesses.” That is the film being presented at the Thousand Oaks Library’s monthly Classic Cinema night Saturday. The 1965 production is a compilation of clips starring some of the biggest names among movie actresses. It was revised in 1972.

The movie will begin at 7 p.m. The library is located at 1401 E. Janss Rd. Admission is $2.

It will be a Family Film Night quadruple bill at Port Hueneme’s Ray D. Prueter Library tonight--with topics ranging from ducks to caps. All of the animated videos are based on popular children’s books.

The list includes two works by Robert McCloskey: “Make Way for Ducklings,” the 1942 Caldecott Medal winner about ducks on a walking expedition through Boston, and “Mike Mulligan’s Steam Shovel,” which McCloskey wrote in 1939.

Maurice Sendak’s “Chicken Soup With Rice” and Esphyr Slobodkina’s “Caps for Sale” will round out the presentation. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. The library is located at 510 Park Ave.
