‘Wayne’s World’ Gathers Steam

Like the movie, the “Wayne’s World” soundtrack keeps getting more--this week it jumped five notches to No. 3 and just might hurl Garth Brooks’ “Ropin’ the Wind” out of the top spot of the Billboard magazine pop album chart. One of the fastest-rising new albums is “Up,” by Right Said Fred, featuring his recent No. 1 pop single, “I’m Too Sexy.”

* Queen is hot again, partly because of the publicity surrounding the AIDS-related death of lead singer Freddie Mercury and partly because a new generation of fans is tuning into the group, thanks to “Wayne’s World.” Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of the most popular cuts on that soundtrack. “Classic Queen,” an oldies collection, debuted at a startling No. 16.
